Story:

Men were out working early in the day, and women were inside doing the same. They were all together, as a team cooking for the crews that would be coming in at dinner time. There was so much cooking and baking to be done to feed their hungry souls. I think the pies would have been the most important item they made, I bet you can smell them baking!
